Fred again.. will play two headline shows in Tokyo this November, according to simultaneous announcements from the official site and the label at 12:41 JST today. It marks his first headline run in Japan.

The shows will run Friday and Saturday in mid-November. The venue is listed only as a “large Tokyo venue,” with capacity and further details to follow. Tickets will go to label members first, followed by general sale.

The lead-up

The announcement wasn’t out of nowhere. Multiple signals had been circulating in the fan community since late June. Here’s the timeline.

  • Jun 28 A post in a fan Discord claims a large Tokyo venue had tentatively held back-to-back weekend dates in November
  • Jul 4 An account believed to belong to production crew posted about a Boiler Room–style stage build, then deleted it
  • Jul 12 A Tokyo subway map briefly appeared in his Instagram Story
  • Jul 15 The official site and label announce simultaneously (this article)

We held off reporting on these earlier signals. Per our editorial policy, we don’t headline “rumor” until a primary source — official announcement, artist statement, or on-the-ground confirmation — corroborates it.

Official statement (translated excerpt)

Every time I’ve played in Tokyo, I told myself I’d come back one day under my own name. November, two nights. I’m bringing everything we’ve built in the bedroom with us.

— From the official announcement (translation by this site)

A full translation of the original statement will be published separately as a translation article, with source text and translation notes appended.

Venue and tickets

The venue hasn’t been confirmed, but based on the Discord posts and the two-night format, fans have narrowed it down to a handful of candidates. We’ll update this article as confirmed details arrive.1

Presale for label members opens July 22 at 12:00 JST, with general sale expected in early August. Pricing hasn’t been announced. Registered-ticket anti-scalping measures are likely.
